Local and sustainable species

Shou sugi ban is not by any means limited to only the species listed on our website; there are several abundant and inexpensive species readily available in our region of New England, our favorite of which is hemlock. The look when burned, brushed and finished is sharp, ruggedly beautiful and compliments both a home in the great wild woods as well as any outdoor space in an urban landscape. Here are a few photos of some sample panels, (board and batten) with various finishes that we have completed for a client to be used on the exterior of a commercial application. We look forward to working with hemlock for our clients more in the future.
